Founded in 2016, the Preloved Kilo story actually begins wayyy back with a well known Sheffield fixture - Mooch Vintage. Owner Wayne got a little too carried away on his vintage buying travels, making far too many friends, opening far too many doors & buying far too much vintage that he could possible shift from his little shop on Division Street. And so with a tiny warehouse full of vintage, he began setting up pop up stalls at festivals and vintage fairs around the UK.
Fortunately for us, Wayne loves clothes, and he also loves shopping, so after outgrowing the tiny warehouse, he ended up with a big warehouse full of vintage - and that's where Preloved Vintage Wholesale Ltd comes in. But with an already competitive vintage wholesale market in the UK, Wayne & husband Mark decided to utilize their knowledge of running pop-up events to bring wholesale to the public, selling quality vintage on a scale never seen before, at prices people couldn't believe.
With the help of friends & family, who remain employees to this day, our first event took place in Bristol's Motion nightclub on 29th January 2017 with hundreds of customers pouring through our doors. Now in our third year, we've hosted over 300 events spanning Dundee to Brighton and at least 50 other towns and cities in between, earning ourselves the title of the UK's biggest kilo sale. And on 15th June 2020, after the coronavirus pandemic brought our events to a complete stop, we said goodbye to Mooch Vintage and opened our first ever Preloved Kilo Pop-up Shop! The exact same concept but in a more permanent space, right in the heart of Sheffield City centre!
We've saved at least 500 tonnes of clothing from going to landfill, working with global second hand clothing suppliers to handpick everything we sell; We've brought cities to a stop with our entry queues (Sorry, Bath!) and grounded motorway traffic with the sheer volume of visitors (Sorry, Guildford!); and we visit some of the UK's most iconic venues - Town Halls, Cathedrals, Guildhalls, Assembly Rooms - bringing a whole new shopping concept direct to your local community.
The whole concept of a 'kilo sale' was created by vintage wholesalers to offsell any old or low grade stock on the cheap to not only trade buyers, but to the wider public & individual customer too. Like any end of season sale, quality stock was few and far between...until Preloved Kilo entered the market.
We are the only event of its kind in the UK to actually handpick Grade A items just for our events, meaning at least two members of our team personally inspect every single item we sell before it hits the rails - checking not only the physical quality of each item, but ensuring there's a varied mix of sizes, colours, eras, prints & styles.
Our director Wayne is also our head buyer, and he spends at least 6 months of the year on buying trips abroad. From America to East Asia, we have several global suppliers who provide us with a mountain of second hand clothing on each visit: it's our Wayne's job to comb through that mountain item by item, cherry picking only the goods of the highest quality, top brands & boldest prints that we know our customers want.
Wayne can purchase anywhere between 8-15 tonne at a time, with smaller 3 tonne weekly deliveries handpicked buy our team to keep a fresh supply of grade A vintage moving on to our rails.
And because we don't wholesale as our primary function, we don't have anyone else picking out the 'best bits' - every single item goes straight to kilo, just for you. In fact, we even go one step further. In 2019 we built our own on-site laundrette to ensure the vast majority of our items are in ready to wear condition.
While we do strive to bring only the highest quality items to our events, there may be the odd imperfection and it's worth remembering that these items can be up to 70 years old, and some signs of wear & tear may be present. But don't let that put you off, a missing cuff button on an 80's new wave shirt is easily replaced, you've just kept that item in circulation that much longer - and the carbon footprint is instantly reduced.

Wonder what you'll find?
We pack a wide mix of mens and ladies clothing, shoes & accessories, mostly stocking from the 1960's - early 2000's. You may find the odd older gem if you know what you're looking for, though there may be more signs of wear with older pieces simply due to the nature of their age.
Our stock is handpicked and may vary from event to event depending on what we've sourced and what's been delivered that week, but you can usually expect to find the following:
Branded goods are some of our top sellers and while there's no guarantee we'll be able to source any particular brand, we do try to stock at least some of the following:
adidas & nike
fila & puma
levi, lee & wrangler
Certain heavy items even have a maximum price - meaning you save even more money! Click learn more for further details.
